My name is Doug.
I have been called a nobody by some in the church, but I am really just an ordinary follower of Jesus Christ with a desire to see people reconciled to God through Him.
I believe that the Bible is God’s Word, that it can be understood by anyone, and that I have a responsibility as a believer to share the good news about Jesus Christ, and what He has done, with those around me. My heart is for those who have left the church because they have been hurt by it and are drifting spiritually.
I am not an authority in that I do not speak for any one group or organization. I can speak about my own life and what Jesus Christ has done for me personally, and have learned a few things in the last 20 years that I believe are worth sharing.
I believe that the Bible presents the church as an organism, not an organization, and that as an organism the Body of Christ should take it’s cues for what to believe and do from His Word. I cherish the fundamental doctrines of the faith delivered once for all to the saints, and believe that they are worth defending.
I am concerned about the church in our age, the spiritual direction that my friends, family, and neighbors are headed, and am interested in being part of God’s rescue mission. I read my copy of Scripture, a lot of books, like to be challenged on what I believe and why, and am rather contrarian in my views on most things spiritual.
I appreciate the brothers and sisters that have gone before me in this living faith, and recognize that there are people who are being persecuted around the world on a daily basis simply because they name the name of Jesus Christ. We must pray for them and help in any way that we can.
I love the simplicity that is Christ. Simple faith is a treasure in a world that is growing increasingly complex, and I do all I can to retain that simplicity in my daily life.
I also like sarcasm, and see it as a lost art in this world where everyone seems too easily offended. I like to laugh and enjoy music that tells a story. I am married to a very patient woman, and we have one son in college 1500 miles away. I pray for him daily.
Because I work on a computer all day long, I ride my horse and play with our dogs when ever I can. Aside from relationships with people, its about as analog I can get and I value that. My passions are writing and trying to build relationships within my circle of influence that have some eternal value.
I serve in a traditional Bible church in South Central Wisconsin. I am what you might label as a conservative Christian, but believe in being identified as a follower of Christ alone. I try to be Biblical in my theology, and in my daily life. I am still learning.
My hope for this site is to participate in a dialog that seeks to understand a different perspective on Christianity. In doing so, I hope to glorify God in Christ and present a view that is true to Him and His Word.
I hope you will join me.
